This site has been built, with a website content management system called Textpattern, as part of an evaluation of maybe a dozen such systems. (If this stuff interests you, take a look at CMS & frameworks evaluated – and leave a comment or two there if you have the time.)
The site has existed in this present form only since the afternoon of Wednesday 18 February, 2009 – so we are still learning how to handle Textpattern.
The editors.co.uk site was originally conceived, over a decade ago, to promote the services of Business Editors, a small consultancy devoted to business communications. That strand of work is now more or less dormant, but there are remnants of the original site here – notably an essay on the use of Initial Capitals, and a page about useful guides to style, supported by the links on the right.
Meanwhile, other branches of the same small consultancy are gaining strength: Guide Editors, devoted to travel guidebooks, and Web Editors, devoted to site building. Hence the interest in CMS software.
The main man behind all this, Chris Gill, is heavily committed to other projects, notably Britain’s leading ski resort guide (Where to Ski and Snowboard) and Britain’s leading operator of corporate yachting events (Yacht Ventures). Links will be provided in due course …
