... and we've come to the view that existing guides to Britain’s national trails aren’t the ideal way to help walkers plan their outings.

We’ve gone back to the drawing board: much as we did with our Where to Ski resort guides, we’re simply creating the guides that we would want when making our own plans.

We’re starting with the wonderful and very long South West Coast Path, and with our innovative WalkPlanners. These are not books, but 1:200k maps with key information about the path itself and about lodgings, bus routes etc, all placed directly on the map. This is much easier to use than info buried in the pages of a book.

The eastern side of the SW peninsula is covered by the first map, to be published on 1 December. The western side (ie Cornwall) is covered by the second map, due early in January 2026.
