This site places ‘cookies’ – small pieces of code – on your computer or other devices, for various purposes. When you first visited the site you should have been presented with a popup banner allowing some degree of control over which cookies you accept. Email lists

If you subscribe to receive our newsletters, you are giving your consent to our use of the data involved for the purpose of mailing you. We will not use your data for other purposes, or share it with any other people or entities. If you buy a book in our online shop we will add your email address to our mailing list, on the basis that we have a legitimate interest in communicating further with you.

All our email communications will include a link enabling you to unsubscribe instantly. If you prefer, at any time you can instruct us by email or via the Contact page to remove your data from our mailing system.

Our email system is operated by Wix.com Inc. The notes in the right-hand column are relevant here.

Chris Gill is responsible for all aspects of the management of the personal data we process.

Online shopping

If you place an order in our online shop, your personal and card details will necessarily be processed by the site hosts, Wix.com Inc, and by our payment processing contractor, Stripe Inc. These are both global businesses. Instructions for order fulfilment (including of course your physical address) will be passed from Wix to Guide Editors and on to Central Books Ltd, our distributor based near London.

All of these companies take security and privacy very seriously. For information on how Wix handles site visitors’ data, please review sections 4, 12, and 13 of Wix’s Privacy Policy. Stripe’s privacy policy is here. The privacy policy of Central Books is here, but bear in mind that much of this relates to customers using the Central Books online shop, and is not relevant to users of our own online shop.
